About the event
Originating in 2013, the African American Cultural Parade is the only Black American parade in South Central PA. As such, it is incumbent upon our community to honor this distinctive heritage and to always remember to continue to pay homage to culture.
Securing our own legacy through this consistent, constructive and harmonious display of our cultural norms, values and ethics will be the impetus that conveys the story of our history we want told for many generations to come.
The Parade is more than a procession of bands and floats marching through Southeast Lancaster, it’s a commemoration of our past and a celebration of our future. Every year since 2013, “The Parade” has united African-Americans throughout the South Centra PA and beyond in music, dance, food, and laughter. It’s one of the only spaces where we can openly and emphatically praise the historic roots that plant us into the South Side of Lancaster.
